Jammu and Kashmir Police on Saturday released sketches of four terrorists who were spotted in 'dhoks' (mud-houses) in the higher reaches of Kathua district. The police have announced a cash reward of Rs 20 lakhs for credible information leading to their capture.
The Kathua district recently witnessed a deadly ambush by terrorists on an army patrol in the remote forest belt of Machedi on July 8. The attack resulted in the death of five soldiers, including a Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO). Despite a massive search, the terrorists linked to Kashmir Tigers, a shadow group of the Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammad outfit, remain untraced. The J-K Police released sketches of the four terrorists last seen in 'dhoks' of Malhar, Bani, and Seojdhar forests. The police offered a reward of Rs 5 lakhs for any actionable information about each terrorist.
The September terror activities continued with another attack in the Desa forest in Doda district on July 15, killing four army personnel, including a captain. Police in Doda also released sketches and announced cash rewards of Rs 5 lakh each for information on the terrorists. Previously on June 9, nine passengers, including seven returning from the Shiv Khori temple, were killed by terrorists in Reasi district. The terrorists involved in that attack are also on the run despite a bounty on their heads.
