Bihar Police Arrest Three, Seize Radioactive Californium Worth Crores

Bihar Police arrested three individuals in Gopalganj district and recovered 50 grams of the expensive radioactive substance Californium, worth crores. The arrests were made based on a tip-off, and officials from the Department of Atomic Energy have been informed. Californium has various uses in nuclear reactors, coal power plants, cancer treatment, and oil drilling.

Bihar Police have apprehended three suspects in Gopalganj district, recovering 50 grams of radioactive Californium worth crores from their possession, officials confirmed.

Acting on a tip-off, police detained the suspects in the Balthari area under the Kuchaikot Police station jurisdiction on Thursday. During the interrogation, Californium and four mobile phones were seized.

A case has been filed, and forensic experts are examining the substance. Californium, used in nuclear reactors, coal power plants, cancer treatment, and oil drilling, has raised significant safety and security concerns.
