Panama's President Jose Raul Mulino has urged the United States to hasten financial aid deliveries for the repatriation of migrants crossing the dangerous Darien Gap. This request is part of his administration's broader efforts to curb migration through Panama.

Mulino, who took office in July, has already initiated measures that led to a 34% decline in migrant crossings, including the installation of barbed wire. The president announced an agreement with the U.S. to fund the repatriation of unauthorized migrants entering Panama.

During a press conference, Mulino stressed the urgency of receiving U.S. funds for repatriation flights, emphasizing that Panama has done its part. The U.S. Embassy has not yet responded. Panama, a major transit route for migrants, plans to repatriate Venezuelan migrants to Colombia in response to recent political developments in Venezuela.
