The Rajya Sabha was abruptly adjourned sine die on Friday, wrapping up one sitting ahead of schedule as the day witnessed an Opposition walkout and expressions of disappointment from Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar.
The Upper House, initially scheduled to function until August 12, saw intense discussions on the Union Budget 2024-25, agriculture, housing, and renewable energy, lasting for a total of 90 hours and 35 minutes.
Dhankhar urged members to introspect to better utilize the platform for public welfare, while also addressing the repeated adjournments and confrontations, notably a face-off with Samajwadi Party member Jaya Bachchan. He emphasized the importance of responsible behavior and truth in maintaining the sanctity of the parliamentary proceedings.
