Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Wednesday asserted that the Preamble to the Constitution is indeed present in NCERT textbooks for Class VI, effectively countering allegations made by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge.
The Opposition, led by the Congress party, raised the issue in the Rajya Sabha, accusing the government of attempting to impose a communal ideology by omitting the Preamble from certain NCERT textbooks. This claim was strongly refuted by Union Minister J P Nadda, who emphasized the government's commitment to protecting the Constitution.
During Zero Hour, Kharge highlighted the importance of educating the younger generation about the foundational principles of Indian democracy and the sacrifices of freedom fighters. However, Education Minister Pradhan clarified that not only the Preamble but also Fundamental Duties, Fundamental Rights, and the National Anthem are included in the textbooks, asserting that the Opposition's claims were unfounded.
