Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka emphasized on Tuesday that the state government would not tolerate incidents like the recent alleged torture of a Dalit woman at the Shadnagar police station.

Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, currently on a visit to the US, spoke to Vikramarka and instructed him to gather details of the incident and offer support to the victim's family. He also called for immediate action against the implicated policemen.

The deputy chief minister stated that the government, inspired by former PM Indira Gandhi's welfare rule, would ensure medical treatment for the victim and full support for her family.

Vikramarka instructed senior police officials to take stringent measures against those involved and to ensure such incidents are not repeated.

On Monday, a Detective Inspector and five constables were suspended in connection with the alleged abuse. The Chief Minister ordered a comprehensive inquiry, ensuring those responsible are held accountable.

BRS Working President K T Rama Rao condemned the Congress government, describing the incident as shameful and calling for justice for the Dalit woman, who was reportedly assaulted over gold theft allegations in front of her minor son.
