Explosion at Jharkhand Steel Plant: One Dead, Six Injured

In a tragic incident on Tuesday, one person was killed and six others were injured following an explosion at the Pawanputra Steel and Alloys plant in Jharkhand's Hazaribag district, according to the police.
The blast occurred in the Barhi police station area, located approximately 135 km from Ranchi. Chandra Sekhar Kumar, in-charge of the Barhi police station, identified the deceased as Jitendra Kumar, aged 50.
Among the injured, four individuals have been referred to Ranchi's Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) for advanced treatment.
Barhi sub-divisional officer Johan Tudu confirmed that a probe committee would be established to investigate the incident thoroughly. He assured that those responsible will face consequences.
State health minister Banna Gupta, who visited the site, indicated that there appeared to be violations of factory and labor laws. Gupta observed that several workers, including the supervisor, were not equipped with proper safety gear. He has discussed the matter with the deputy commissioner and plans to raise the issue with the labor secretary.
