A wave of violence has erupted in Bangladesh, targeting Hindu temples, households, and businesses. Women have been assaulted, and at least two Hindu leaders affiliated with the Awami League party have been killed following the ouster of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, community leaders reported on Tuesday.
Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Unity Council leader Kajol Debnath conveyed these distressing developments on the sidelines of a group meeting. 'We've compiled incidents of vandalism in various parts of the country, causing anxiety among the Hindu and other minority communities,' Debnath told PTI.
According to Debnath, the attackers have plundered shops, temples, and houses, assaulting Hindu women amid the political upheaval. The districts affected include Panchagarh, Dinajpur, Rangpur, Bogura, Sirajganj, and others. The Unity Council has called on the army to ensure the security of minorities and bring the perpetrators to justice.
