A 12-year-old gangrape survivor from Ayodhya has been referred to King George's Medical University in Lucknow for advanced medical treatment, according to an official statement on Monday.

The transfer was necessary because Ayodhya's women's hospital lacked the facilities needed for the survivor's adequate care, said Chief Medical Officer Sanjay Jain. A team of doctors is accompanying her to Lucknow.

BJP leaders, including Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, have accused the prime suspect Moid Khan of being affiliated with the Samajwadi Party and a member of Faizabad MP Awadhesh Prasad's team. Khan and his employee Raju Khan were arrested on July 30 in connection with the gangrape. The crime allegedly occurred two months ago and was discovered after the girl was found pregnant during a medical checkup.

Chief Minister Adityanath, who met the girl's family last week, stated that the Samajwadi Party has yet to take action against Khan. The Ayodhya district administration demolished Khan's 'illegal' bakery on August 3.
