Twelve Bangladeshi citizens, including three women, were detained by police in Tripura for entering India without valid documents. The arrests followed coordinated raids in Lankamura, Joynagar, and Ramangar areas under West Agartala police station.
The arrests were based on intelligence inputs indicating the presence of Bangladeshi nationals. The joint operation by police and BSF personnel resulted in the detention of these individuals, who confessed to crossing the border illegally.
Kanti Bardhan, the second officer-in-charge of West Agartala police station, confirmed the arrests and the violations under the Indian Passport Act. Bardhan also emphasized heightened security measures along the border to address the sensitive issue of infiltration.
