Large-Scale Evacuation: Over 85 Palestinians Receive Critical Medical Care in Abu Dhabi

Over 85 severely injured and sick Palestinians, including 35 children, have been evacuated from Gaza to Abu Dhabi for specialized medical attention, announced Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, the director-general of the World Health Organization (WHO), on Tuesday.

Supported by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and WHO, this complex joint operation represents the largest medical evacuation since October 2023. Dr. Ghebreyesus highlighted that the evacuated patients, suffering from conditions like cancer, neurological disorders, and cardiac diseases, were accompanied by 63 family members and caregivers.

Gaza's medical infrastructure has been severely compromised following a nearly 10-month-long military operation initiated by Hamas' attacks on southern Israel on October 7, which killed 1,200 and led to 253 hostages being taken. Israeli military actions, including hospital raids and bombings alleged to target Hamas facilities, have left many hospitals shuttered.
