In a bold political move, Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara announced on Tuesday that the ruling Congress intends to hold public meetings to counter the opposition BJP-JD(S)' foot march over the alleged Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) site allotment scam.
The opposition parties plan to march from Bengaluru to Mysuru from August 3 to 10 to protest the purported illicit allotment of MUDA sites, including those to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's wife Parvathi. Parameshwara maintained that while police won't permit the march, they also won't actively prevent it, cautioning that any unlawful actions would be met with legal consequences.
Amid escalating tensions, BJP state President B Y Vijayendra vowed that the opposition would not be deterred. Ensuring legal compliance, Parameshwara emphasized on the right to protest but warned that the police would enforce the law if any violations occurred during the march.
