Russian Navy Mobilizes for Extensive Naval Drills

The Russian navy is undertaking comprehensive exercises encompassing most of its fleet, involving 20,000 personnel and 300 ships. The Russian navy commenced extensive exercises involving a significant portion of its fleet, as well as 20,000 personnel and 300 ships, Russian news agencies reported on Tuesday, citing the defense ministry.

The drills aim to test the navy's military command bodies of three fleets and the Caspian Flotilla, according to TASS news agency. The Northern Fleet in Russia's Arctic, the Pacific Fleet in the Pacific Ocean, the Baltic Fleet in the Baltic Sea, and the Caspian Flotilla in the Caspian Sea will participate.

About 300 surface ships and boats, submarines, 50 aircraft, and over 200 units of military and special equipment are set to engage in the combat training. Since its invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, Russia has conducted numerous military exercises independently and with countries such as China and South Africa. Recent months have also seen mobile nuclear missile launcher drills and tactical nuclear weapons deployment exercises, along with enhanced training exercises with Belarus.
