Kremlin Denies Involvement in French Railway Sabotage
The Kremlin dismisses Western media claims that Russia was behind the sabotage of France's railway system. France's interior minister suspects far-left groups were responsible, while Western media speculated potential Russian involvement. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov denounced these accusations as unfounded.
The Kremlin on Monday dismissed Western media speculation that Russia was behind a series of attacks against the French railway system, stating that such accusations lacked evidence.
Saboteurs targeted France's train network in pre-dawn attacks on Friday, creating travel chaos and revealing security flaws just before the Paris Olympics opening ceremony. Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin suggested possible foreign involvement but suspected far-left groups were more likely responsible. Western media, however, pointed toward Russia.
Asked about these allegations, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov termed them "unsubstantiated accusations" and criticized media outlets for frequently blaming Russia for various issues without proof.
