Rajasthan Offers Reservation for Agniveers in State Police and Guard Roles

The Rajasthan government, led by Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, announced reservations for Agniveers in jail, forest guard, and state police recruitments. The announcement was made on Kargil Vijay Diwas. This decision aligns with the Agnipath scheme introduced by the Centre in 2022, which recruits youths into the armed forces on a contractual basis.

The Rajasthan government will offer reservations for Agniveers in the recruitment of jail and forest guards and state police, Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma announced.

The Chief Minister's Office on Saturday released a statement highlighting the announcement made on Kargil Vijay Diwas (July 26).

'The Rajasthan government has provisioned reservation in state police, jail guard, and forest guard recruitments for Agniveers, who protect the country's borders with dedication and patriotism,' it said.

This decision, under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, aims to provide post-service career opportunities for Agniveers, Sharma stated.

The percentage of reservation was not disclosed. In 2022, the Centre introduced the Agnipath scheme for recruiting youths aged between 17-and-a-half and 21 into the armed forces on a four-year contractual basis.

Recruits under this scheme are referred to as Agniveers. After their four-year tenure, 25 per cent of each batch will be offered regular service.

The Union Ministry of Home Affairs announced that 10 per cent of vacancies in the Central Armed Police Forces or paramilitary forces would be reserved for ex-Agniveers.

Several state governments have also made similar announcements for recruiting retired Agniveers into their police forces.
