An Indian Army personnel was killed, and four others, including a captain, were injured as the Indian Army thwarted an attack by Pakistan's Border Action Team (BAT) in Kupwara district, Jammu and Kashmir, on Saturday morning.

Military sources confirmed that a Pakistani intruder was killed in the exchange of fire, with two others managing to escape back to Pakistan-occupied Kashmir during the intense gunfight that lasted several hours.

The BAT, which generally includes special forces personnel of the Pakistan Army alongside terrorists, initiated the attack by hurling a grenade and opening fire on a forward post near Kumkadi post in Trehgam sector. The injured personnel were evacuated to a base hospital, where one is reported to be in critical condition.
