Odisha Court Sentences Man to 20 Years for Raping Teenage Boy
A 55-year-old man in Kendrapara, Odisha, was sentenced to 20 years in jail for raping a teenage boy. The special POCSO court also imposed a Rs 50,000 fine. The court directed the Odisha State Legal Services Authority to compensate the victim with Rs 5 lakh.

A court in Odisha's Kendrapara district has sentenced a 55-year-old man to 20 years in jail for raping a teenage boy. The special POCSO court also slapped the convict with a fine of Rs 50,000, adding that default on this payment would result in an additional two years of imprisonment.
The incident, which occurred in July 2021, was reported by the survivor's mother. According to her police complaint, her son was taken to a secluded cowshed and raped.
In announcing the verdict on Thursday, the court also ordered the Odisha State Legal Services Authority to compensate the 14-year-old victim with Rs 5 lakh, according to Special Public Prosecutor Manoj Kumar Sahu. The accused was convicted under IPC Section 377 and Section 6 of the POCSO Act, 2012. A total of 10 witnesses, including the boy, testified in court.
