The cyber wing of Maharashtra Police has summoned eight users, including one handling a parody account, for posting defamatory content targeting Anjali Birla, an Indian Railway Personnel Service (IRPS) officer, and the daughter of Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla.

Authorities registered a case against an X account titled 'Dhruv Rathee (Parody)', which falsely claimed that Birla cleared the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) exam due to her father's influence. The defamatory post was widely shared, leading to a relative of Anjali Birla filing a complaint under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Information Technology Act.

The cyber wing tracked and summoned all eight X users involved. The parody account operator apologized unconditionally, but the probe continues under legal guidelines. Additionally, the Delhi High Court has directed X Corp and Google Inc to remove objectionable posts and restrained further defamatory content following a suit by Birla.
