A woman from Thane, Maharashtra, has been detained by police for allegedly forging documents to procure a Pakistani visa, an official reported on Friday.
The suspect, Sanam Khan, also known as Nagma Noor Maqsood, was apprehended following a three-day interrogation by Vartak Nagar police. She appeared in court and has been remanded to police custody for two days. Authorities claim Khan utilized a fake identity to secure a visa, manufacturing Aadhaar and PAN cards with falsified details.
Separated from her husband, Khan resides with her mother in Thane. She reportedly formed a connection with a Pakistani man on social media and struggled to obtain a visa due to lack of marriage documentation. Consequently, Khan conducted a virtual marriage ceremony and acquired the necessary documents to travel to Pakistan, where she married the man in person. Thane police initiated an investigation after uncovering these details.
Another individual has also been charged with helping Khan forge her documents. Additional investigating agencies are currently involved in the case.
