In a significant breakthrough, Mumbai police have arrested key suspects in the murder of Guru Waghmare, a history-sheeter who was killed at Soft Touch Spa in Worli. Waghmare, known for his RTI activism and multiple criminal cases, was found with the names of 22 potential threats tattooed on his body.
Among those arrested is Santosh Sherekar, the spa owner, believed to have orchestrated the murder due to extortion threats from Waghmare. Police disclosed that Sherekar allegedly paid Rs 6 lakh to Mohammed Feroze Ansari to carry out the killing. Ansari, who owns another spa shut down following Waghmare's complaint, recruited Saquib Ansari to assist.
The elaborate conspiracy, which included a thorough recce of Waghmare's routine, culminated in his murder, executed with precision using a pair of scissors. Additional arrests have been made, and the police continue to probe the involvement of other suspects, including Waghmare's girlfriend.
