75-Year-Old Sentenced for Child Assault in Bhiwandi

A 75-year-old man, Maunuddin Ajijulla Ansari, was sentenced to three years in jail for sexually assaulting a 5-year-old girl in 2011. The special POCSO court in Bhiwandi, Thane district, delivered the verdict, also imposing a fine of Rs 5,000. Ten prosecution witnesses were examined.

A 75-year-old man was sentenced to three years in jail by a special POCSO court in Bhiwandi, Thane district, on Thursday.

In November 2011, Maunuddin Ajijulla Ansari lured a 5-year-old girl to his house in Kidwai Nagar and sexually assaulted her. The case was registered under the Indian Penal Code and POCSO Act after the child informed her parents.

Special POCSO Judge NK Karande handed down the sentence and imposed a fine of Rs 5,000. Ten prosecution witnesses were examined during the trial, according to public prosecutor Vijay Munde.
