Rajasthan's Animal Husbandry and Dairy Minister Joraram Kumawat has announced a significant change in terminology concerning stray cows in the state. During a session in the Rajasthan Assembly, Kumawat declared that the term 'stray' will be replaced by 'nirashrit' (destitute) to reflect a more compassionate stance.

The government is committed to making cattle rearers economically self-reliant by developing valuable animal wealth and increasing livestock production, Kumawat emphasized. He added that the state is sensitively working towards the protection and promotion of cows and bulls. The assembly passed the grant demands of the Animal Husbandry and Fisheries Department by voice vote following the discussion.

Among other initiatives, the Chief Minister Animal Husbandry Development Fund will be established with a provision of Rs 250 crore. Additionally, the Mukhyamantri Mangala Pashu Bima Yojana will be launched, including dairy and other animals. To aid livestock farmers, animal fairs will be organized in all districts in a phased manner.
