A court in Gurugram handed down a 20-year imprisonment sentence to two individuals on Wednesday for their attempted murder of a man six years ago, according to police officials.

Police reports indicate that on May 5, 2018, a man named Lalit was admitted to the hospital after being shot. Lalit's father filed a complaint alleging that his son was shot by bike-borne assailants near Azad Square Hotel in Jharsa village, aiming to kill him.

An FIR was subsequently registered under IPC sections 307 (attempted murder) and 120-B (criminal conspiracy), along with relevant sections of the Arms Act at the Sadar police station.

In September 2018, Gurugram police arrested the suspects, Praveen alias Adda and Aakash alias Hemant from different locations. Both were kept in judicial custody, and police later filed a charge sheet in court after gathering sufficient evidence and witness testimonies.

The court of Additional District and Sessions Judge Sunil Kumar Dewan found Praveen and Aakash guilty on Wednesday. Both received 10-year sentences and a fine of Rs 50,000 each under IPC Section 307, and another 10 years and a Rs 50,000 fine each under IPC Section 120-B.

Additionally, Praveen was sentenced to seven more years in prison and fined Rs 25,000 under the Arms Act. A Gurugram police spokesperson confirmed the details.
