In a major development, police on Wednesday filed a comprehensive charge sheet spanning 1 lakh pages against 15 individuals implicated in the Rajkot game zone fire tragedy, which claimed 27 lives in May.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime), Parthrajsinh Gohil, disclosed that statements from 365 witnesses have been recorded, with the accused including co-owners of TRP game zone and Rajkot Municipal Corporation (RMC) officials.

On May 25, a catastrophic fire gutted the entire game zone facility, resulting in 27 fatalities, including children. The investigation revealed that highly-inflammable construction materials and welding sparks contributed to the rapid spread of the blaze.

The crime branch filed the voluminous charge sheet in the court of Rajkot Judicial Magistrate First Class AP Dave. The accused were charged under sections 304, 308, 337, 338, and 114 of the Indian Penal Code.
