Taiwan staff at multinational firms in mainland China need not fear the recent guidelines introduced by Beijing, which empower Chinese courts to hand the death penalty to 'diehard' Taiwan separatists, according to China's Taiwan Affairs Office on Wednesday.

'The majority of Taiwan compatriots, including Taiwanese employees working in multinational companies, can be completely at ease in the mainland, as long as they do not engage in criminal acts,' a spokesperson assured during a news conference.
