Navi Mumbai Police have registered a kidnapping case after a 13-year-old girl from Panvel went missing, following a reprimand from her parents for playing in the rain, an official said on Tuesday.

The girl exited her Pendhar area residence on the afternoon of June 19 after her parents advised her against playing in the rain due to concerns about her health.

When her parents' efforts to find her proved futile, they turned to the police for help.

On Monday, the police registered an FIR under Section 137(2) (kidnapping) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and the investigation is ongoing, the official confirmed.
