In a startling revelation, Senior Maharashtra Congress leader Vijay Wadettiwar on Monday claimed that the state government has agreed to pay Rs 400 crore to a real estate firm, despite opposition from its own housing department, raising suspicions about the entire deal.
Wadettiwar pointed out that the firm, Chadha Developers and Promoters, has already been paid Rs 127 crore by the Maharashtra government, even though it has not delivered a single home to the beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana scheme.
'The state's housing department opposed this decision, making the entire deal seem highly suspicious. I spoke with the CEO of MHADA, who informed me that Chadha builder is set to receive Rs 50 crore at each project stage,' Wadettiwar said, adding that the firm's past controversies and eligibility are grounds for more scrutiny.
