The Rajya Sabha Secretariat has issued a reminder to MPs ahead of the Parliament session starting Monday, underlining the importance of adhering to parliamentary etiquette and customs. According to the 'Handbook for Members of Rajya Sabha', rulings by the chair should not be criticized either directly or indirectly inside or outside the House.
Members have also been advised against raising slogans such as 'Vande Mataram' and 'Jai Hind,' as well as displaying exhibits on the floor of the House. The reminder, published in a Rajya Sabha bulletin on July 15, highlights that decorum and the seriousness of House proceedings require adherence to these guidelines.
The handbook further emphasizes that words containing insinuations, offensive, or unparliamentary expressions should be avoided. Members should bow to the Chair upon entering or leaving the House and ensure they are present to hear replies to criticisms they have raised. The session is scheduled to begin on July 22 and will conclude on August 12.
