Pune Police have levied IPC section 307, which pertains to attempted murder, against Manorama Khedkar, mother of an IAS probationer, in a contentious land dispute case. Manorama and four others, including her husband, are accused of threatening a 65-year-old man with a gun.

Superintendent of Police, Pune Rural, Pankaj Deshmukh, confirmed Manorama's arrest from a lodge in Raigad district. She appeared before a judicial magistrate in Paud and was remanded in police custody until July 20. The police further explained their need for custodial interrogation to seize the weapon and locate other accused.

In defense, Nikhil Malani argued that the case is retaliatory, and the complainant acted after a viral video surfaced. Following both sides' statements, the court extended Manorama's custody.
