A panel investigating the conduct of two Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) members recommended disciplinary action for procedural lapses related to granting bail to a minor involved in the Pune Porsche crash case, an official reported on Wednesday.

On May 19, two IT professionals were killed in Kalyani Nagar, Pune, when their motorcycle was hit by a speeding Porsche allegedly driven by an intoxicated minor. The case garnered national attention after JJB member L N Danwade granted the minor bail under lenient conditions, including writing a 300-word essay on road safety.

Following the incident, the Maharashtra government's Women and Child Development (WCD) Department formed a committee to scrutinize the conduct of the JJB members. The panel's report indicated procedural lapses, misconduct, and non-compliance with norms. Despite issuing a show-cause notice to the JJB members, their responses were unsatisfactory, leading the WCD to propose disciplinary action. The minor has since submitted the required essay on road safety as part of the bail conditions.
