Delhi Police have successfully rescued a 14-year-old orphan girl from the clutches of the flesh trade and apprehended a woman suspected of purchasing her, officials revealed on Tuesday.

The young victim, who hails from Bijnor in Uttar Pradesh, had come to the capital city in search of employment. Authorities received a tip-off on July 12 about the teenager being forced into prostitution at a brothel in Shradhanand Marg, near Ajmeri Gate.

Upon receiving the information, a team of police officers and NGO representatives promptly arrived at the location and discovered the girl in the custody of a woman named Anjali (42). The victim has been relocated to a children's shelter, and Anjali is now in police custody. Investigations revealed that the girl was brought to Ajmeri Gate by an individual named Anas from Zakir Nagar in the Okhla area and later handed over to Anjali.
