At least seven people, including two security personnel and two minors, were killed in a terrorist attack on a rural health centre in Pakistan's unruly northwest on Tuesday, the army reported.

The terrorists stormed the Rural Health Centre (RHC) in Kirri Shamozai, situated in Dera Ismail Khan district, according to the Pakistan Army's media wing.

The gun attack claimed the lives of RHC staff members, including two female health workers and a watchman, as well as two minors.

Security forces were swiftly mobilised for a clearance operation, successfully engaging and killing the assailants in the ensuing firefight.

This marks the second terrorist attack within 24 hours, following an earlier incident on Monday when eight soldiers died while attempting to thwart a terrorist infiltration into Bannu Cantonment.

During the Bannu Cantonment attack, at least eight Pakistani soldiers and 10 terrorists were killed, with security forces ultimately foiling the infiltration attempt.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur condemned the attack on the health centre in his home district of Dikhan. He expressed deep sorrow over the loss of RHC staff and security personnel.

"Targeting innocent people at a health facility is an act of cowardice. The culprits involved in this barbaric act are inhuman," he stated.
