A 32-year-old man named Riyazuddin was shot dead inside GTB Hospital in Delhi by an unidentified attacker on Sunday, police reported.

Riyazuddin, admitted since June 23 for abdominal infection, was in Ward Number 24 when an 18-year-old suspect fired at him around 4 pm, resulting in his death. The incident appears to be driven by personal enmity, according to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Shahdara) Surendra Choudhary. A case has been registered, and police teams are actively working to apprehend the shooter.

The violent incident has led to an indefinite strike by the Residents' Doctors Association (RDA) of GTB Hospital, protesting against what they consider a serious lapse in security. Delhi Health Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj confirmed a security review for all hospitals and vowed intolerance towards negligence.

An official statement from the hospital revealed that while the shooter escaped, no one else was injured. The alarm was raised by a nurse on duty who witnessed the attack. The strike aims to push the Delhi Government towards implementing better security measures to protect both patients and healthcare workers.
