Opposition parties in Odisha, including the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) and Congress, are demanding action against Governor Raghubar Das's son, Lalit Kumar, after allegations surfaced of Kumar assaulting an assistant section officer, Baikuntha Pradhan, at the Raj Bhavan in Puri.

During a protest at Raj Bhavan, Congress's youth and student wing NSUI called for an FIR against Kumar, criticizing the delayed police response. NSUI state president Yashir Nawaz highlighted the absence of an FIR despite a six-day lapse, while senior Congress MLA Taraprasad Bahinipati decried political interference in law enforcement.

BJD's Pratap Keshari Deb condemned the incident, urging Chief Minister Mohan Majhi to ensure justice. Pradhan's wife Sayoj alleged the assault stemmed from Kumar's dissatisfaction with transport arrangements. Despite a detailed complaint and calls for justice, neither Kumar nor the Governor's office have addressed the allegations.
