Delhi Police's Intelligence Fusion and Strategic Operation (IFSO) cell has filed an FIR after an alleged lewd comment was made on social media platform X, targeting the widow of Kirti Chakra Captain Anshuman Singh, officials revealed on Saturday.

The National Commission for Women (NCW) on Monday took suo motu cognisance and filed a complaint with the Delhi Police concerning the issue.

According to a police officer, the FIR has been lodged under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita act and the Information Technology (IT) Act at the IFSO unit. Efforts are also underway to obtain details from the social media platform regarding the handle responsible for the remark. The NCW's communiqué pointed out specific legal provisions breached, such as Section 79 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, and Section 67 of the IT Act, 2000.

The commission has called for a fair and prompt investigation, demanding a detailed action taken report (ATR) within three days.
