In a pivotal legal victory, former prime minister Imran Khan's Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is set to become the largest party in Pakistan's Parliament, securing 109 seats after a landmark Supreme Court ruling.
Headed by Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa, a 13-member full bench annulled the Election Commission's decision, deeming it 'null and void' and contrary to the Constitution of Pakistan. This allows PTI to claim its share of reserved seats for women and minorities, potentially increasing its parliamentary strength significantly.
With this ruling, PTI will now hold a considerable influence in the National Assembly, challenging Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif's coalition government and reshaping the legislative dynamics in the country.
