A sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) along with four state government employees have been suspended on allegations of illegal land sales and allocations to their family members in Sirsaganj tehsil, according to state officials. The suspension orders, issued on Wednesday by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, mandate FIRs and departmental actions against the accused—SDM Vivek Rajput, Naib Tehsildar Naveen Kumar, Revenue Inspector Mukesh Kumar Singh, accountant Abhilash Singh, and SDM's reader Pramod Shakya.

The misappropriation became evident during Rajput's tenure in Sirsaganj, where he overturned a lower court's decision in June 2024, facilitating a quick transfer of a large plot of land to people from his home district and relatives, as per the official statement. Rajput's reader, Shakya, was implicated for his role in document movements related to the land transactions.

Additionally, Naveen Kumar and Mukesh Kumar Singh have been suspended by the Revenue Board for misuse of authority, engaging in the illegal acquisition of land in collaboration with revenue officers. Accountant Abhilash Singh also faces suspension following investigations into land grabbing and crop destruction, with directives for departmental proceedings and FIR filings.
