Arriving earlier in the day for the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit, Jaishankar also exchanged views on regional and global issues, including the situation in Afghanistan and the Ukraine conflict.

Welcomed by Kazakhstan's Deputy Foreign Minister Alibek Bakayev at the airport, Jaishankar showed gratitude for the hospitality and arrangements for the summit. He also met with prominent Indian community members upon reaching his hotel.
