In a significant ruling, a Maharashtra court in Thane district has sentenced 34-year-old Pankaj Galla Goil to rigorous life imprisonment for the murder of his neighbor, Salam Khan. The incident also left Khan's wife injured.

Presiding over the case, Principal District and Sessions Judge S B Agrawal found Goil guilty under relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code. Alongside the life sentence, Goil has been fined Rs 13,500.

The court was informed by Additional Public Prosecutors Anil Ladvanjari and Jayshree Korde that the crime occurred on the night of May 3, 2020. A seemingly minor dispute escalated when Khan was taking a stroll near his house and engaged in a conversation with Goil's wife. Angered, Goil confronted Khan and, in a fit of rage, stabbed him multiple times. As Khan's wife tried to intervene, Goil attacked her as well. Khan was declared dead upon arrival at a civic hospital. The case was bolstered by testimonies from nine prosecution witnesses, including the victim's wife.
