A group of IAS officers from the 2022 batch, currently serving as Assistant Secretaries in various Union Ministries and Departments, met with the President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu, at the Rashtrapati Bhavan Cultural Centre on July 1, 2024.

Addressing the officers, President Murmu highlighted the prestige and responsibility associated with the Indian Administrative Service. She acknowledged that becoming an IAS officer is a dream for many ambitious youth in the country, and those who achieve this goal have the unique opportunity to work for the welfare of citizens. She encouraged the officers to leave a lasting impact through their sensitivity, honesty, and efficiency.

In her speech, the President pointed out that the era of high technology presents new challenges for IAS officers. With real-time information available to the public, the demands and aspirations of people are constantly evolving. She urged the officers to develop systems that keep them future-ready and capable of meeting these dynamic needs.

President Murmu stressed the importance of a work culture rooted in public participation to achieve inclusive and sustainable development. She emphasized that officers must not only be administrators but also facilitators and managers, ensuring accountable, transparent, and effective administration by working collaboratively with the community.

Winning and maintaining public trust is paramount, the President said. She advised the officers to leverage technology for accessibility and transparency while cautioning against using social media for self-promotion. Instead, she urged them to focus on integrity and righteousness in both their professional and personal conduct.

The President underscored the importance of a developed mindset for building a developed India and expressed confidence in the officers' ability to advance the country's development with innovative thinking and solutions.
