Eleven Bangladeshi nationals were arrested at Agartala railway station for entering India without valid travel documents, according to police reports on Sunday.
Acting on a tip-off, the railway police launched a search operation on Saturday evening, leading to the detention of five women and six men.
Officer in Charge Tapas Das stated that the detainees were unable to produce any valid travel documents during questioning. The arrested individuals will be presented in court for police remand to facilitate further interrogation. Preliminary investigations reveal that the group was likely aiming to travel to Chennai, Mumbai, and Kolkata for employment opportunities.
Authorities are not dismissing the possibility of human trafficking attempts and have initiated a thorough investigation into the matter.
Notably, two Bangladeshi nationals had been arrested previously on June 27 at the same station for similar offenses.
