Jammu and Kashmir Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo announced Saturday that ensuring the security of the Amarnath Yatra remains a top priority for the administration. During a meeting at the Bhagwati Nagar base camp, he personally reviewed security arrangements.

Accompanied by Additional Director General of Police, Jammu zone, Anand Jain, Dulloo inspected the heavily guarded base camp as preparations continue for the annual pilgrimage.

The 52-day pilgrimage is scheduled to begin on June 29 via the traditional 48-kilometre Nunwan-Pahalgam route in Anantnag and the 14-kilometre Baltal route in Ganderbal. The first batch of pilgrims will be flagged off from Bhagwati Nagar on June 28.

'Almost all arrangements are in place, and we are working to ensure better facilities for pilgrims to make their stay comfortable,' Dulloo informed reporters at the base camp.

Dulloo also highlighted that there has been a significant increase in the capacity of lodgment centres and other facilities for pilgrims, and assured that the pilgrimage would be closely monitored.

'Adequate security measures are being implemented. Yatra security is our top priority,' he reiterated.
