Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADCP) Alok Kumar Sharma disclosed that an anonymous email, sent to the airport director's official email account on Wednesday night, threatened a bomb explosion at the airport.
However, after thorough investigations conducted by the police in coordination with the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), which oversees airport security, the threat was declared a hoax.
Sharma confirmed that a case had been filed under section 507 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), pertaining to criminal intimidation by anonymous communication, against the unidentified sender of the threatening email.
He further revealed that on Tuesday, similar fake bomb threat messages were sent to airports in Indore and other cities across India, leading to additional FIRs being registered.
