Rear Admiral Nelson D’Souza has officially taken over as the Commandant of the Military Institute of Technology (MILIT) in Pune, succeeding Air Vice Marshal Vivek Blouria. A distinguished alumnus of the Defence Services Staff College in Wellington and the Naval War College in Goa, Rear Admiral D’Souza brings with him a wealth of experience from various pivotal roles within the Indian Navy since his commissioning in March 1991.

MILIT stands as one of India’s premier tri-services technical training institutes, dedicated to educating mid-level officers from the army, navy, and air force, as well as personnel from allied foreign nations. In his new role, Rear Admiral D’Souza aims to bolster MILIT’s academic programs and advance initiatives in joint training and integration among the tri-services. Additionally, he plans to foster closer partnerships with industry and academia, especially in the realm of niche technologies.

The focus under Rear Admiral D’Souza’s leadership will be on cultivating highly skilled techno-warriors who are poised to lead India’s armed forces into a future characterized by readiness and technological advancement.
