Three Maharashtra ministers, along with a member of the legislative council, met with fasting OBC activists Laxman Hake and Navnath Waghmare on Friday. They urged the activists to end their nine-day-long protest.
The delegation, which included ministers Atul Save, Uday Samant, Girish Mahajan, and MLC Gopichand Padalkar, reached out to the protesters in Wadigodri village, Jalna district. Newly elected Shiv Sena MP Sandipan Bhumre was also in attendance.
During the meeting, Mahajan contacted Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis to facilitate dialogue with the activists. Later, Padalkar announced an upcoming meeting between a delegation of the OBC community and the government in Mumbai. However, the activists demanded a written assurance that the OBC quota will remain intact, opposing any move to issue Kunbi certificates to the Maratha community.
