Delhi Water Minister Atishi announced she would commence an indefinite hunger strike at Bhogal in south Delhi from Friday noon, demanding an additional 100 million gallons of water daily from Haryana.

In a press conference, Atishi revealed her intent to visit Rajghat at 11 AM on Friday to pay homage to Mahatma Gandhi. She stated Gandhi's path of Satyagraha is her only recourse as Delhi has been deprived of sufficient water.

'Delhi requires 1,005 MGD of water, with 613 MGD supplied by Haryana. However, for the past two weeks, Haryana has reduced this to 513 MGD, depriving around 28 lakh residents of adequate water,' Atishi explained.

She added that despite her appeals, Haryana has refused to release the water. Her letter to the Prime Minister yielded no results, prompting her decision to resort to a hunger strike for Delhi's rightful water share and the 28 lakh affected citizens.
