The accused, identified as Balaram (35) from Madhya Pradesh, has been apprehended under the POCSO Act, confirmed Ramagundam Police Commissioner M Sreenivasulu.
Balaram abducted the six-year-old from her sleeping mother at the rice mill's camp during the early hours and committed the heinous act. As the girl raised an alarm, he strangled her. Locals intervened and handed him over to the police. The victim's body has been sent for a postmortem examination.
