A vigilant villager in Saida Sukhal hamlet prevented a potential tragedy by alerting locals about two armed terrorists. The timely alert allowed residents to rush to safety.

In a subsequent terrorist attack on the village near the International Border, a suspected Pakistani terrorist and a CRPF jawan were killed, and a civilian was injured.

The region remains tense following the attack and the ensuing 17-hour operation to track down another terrorist still at large.

''A tragedy was averted because I raised an alarm about terrorists. Many children were playing, and people were out walking. They could have easily killed many people,'' stated villager and eyewitness Surinder.

Surinder, who encountered the armed men asking for water, immediately sounded an alert. ''I was on my bike when a child informed me about two armed youths. I saw them with AK rifles and warned the villagers,'' he recounted.

Moments after his alert, the terrorists started firing, injuring a local and causing a blast. Surinder promptly informed a district development committee member, who alerted the police. The police arrived quickly, killing one terrorist while the other escaped.

The attack has instilled fear among villagers, who believe terrorists might have infiltrated through a tunnel bypassing BSF security. ''The government must ensure foolproof security,'' said villager Trilok Chand.
