The Vice-President of India, Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar, acknowledged the historical significance of the current Government's third term, a feat unprecedented in the past six decades. “It is for the first time since 1962 that a Prime Minister has got a third term,” stated Shri Dhankhar, emphasizing the rarity of such an accomplishment.

Addressing participants of the Rajya Sabha Internship Programme at the Vice President’s enclave, Shri Dhankhar encouraged the interns to leverage social media to express their views and remain vigilant against harmful tendencies in democracy. He highlighted the importance of constructive debate, dialogue, and discussion in the Parliament for positive growth, urging the interns to mobilize public opinion if they observe any deviations from these principles.

Shri Dhankhar asserted that India is not a sleeping giant but a dynamic country that is progressing every day. He advised the interns to refer to the Indian Constitution whenever in doubt, emphasizing its significance for clarity and guidance.

Describing the internship programme as a "Parliamentary Startup," Shri Dhankhar noted that it provides a new direction and motivation to engage with the country's democratic processes. He highlighted how citizens can indirectly participate and raise public issues through petitions without being members of Parliament.

The event was attended by Dr. Sudesh Dhankhar, Deputy Chairman of Rajya Sabha Shri Harivansh, Secretary General of Rajya Sabha Shri P.C. Mody, Secretary to the Vice President Shri Sunil Kumar Gupta, Secretary of Rajya Sabha Shri Rajit Punhani, and other senior officials.
