China's former deputy central bank governor, Fan Yifei, was charged with illegally accepting property total#;ng more than 386 million yuan ($53.32 million), directly or through his relations, China's state television CCTV reported on Thursday.
A court in central China's Huanggang held a first trial of Fan's case and would announce a verdict at a later date, CCTV added.
Fan is the highest-ranking official at the People's Bank of China arrested under President Xi Jinping's anti-graft drive in the past decade, in a campaign aimed at weeding out corrupt officials in the financial sector. ($1 = 7.2389 Chinese yuan renminbi)
